The Master Alchemy of the Matrix: The Definitive Guide to Earthly Branch Combinations (지지합)

If the Heavenly Stems represent the “Sky” and our pure ideology, the Earthly Branches represent the “Ground”—the physical, heavy, and infinitely complex reality of human life.

When elements in the Sky combine (as we explored in our Heavenly Stems masterclass), they simply fall in love. It is a romantic, mental, and ideational binding. But when elements on the Ground combine, the stakes are exponentially higher. Earthly Combinations form incredibly complex physical structures: secret alliances, massive corporate cartels, and exclusive mafia-like families.

In Eastern Eventology, Earthly Branch Combinations (Jiji Hap, 地支合) dictate how global power is structured, how money is hoarded, and how human networks are consolidated. If you want to master macroeconomic cycles or understand the deep, hidden architecture of human relationships, you cannot rely on surface-level observations. You must memorize the exact physics behind every single alliance.

There are no shortcuts in the Matrix. In this definitive, comprehensive masterclass, we will completely deconstruct all 14 Earthly Branch Combinations, dividing them into their three absolute architectures: The Six Combinations, The Three Harmonies, and The Directional Alliances.

PART 1: The Six Combinations (Yuk-Hap, 六合) – The Secret Treaties

The first tier of Earthly Combinations is the Yuk-Hap (The Six Combinations).
These represent strict, One-on-One relationships. They are not loud, they are not public, and they are not designed for maximum scalability. Instead, they operate on the physics of a secret love affair, a confidential Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), or a highly private backroom deal. They are emotionally binding, incredibly intimate, and shielded from the public eye.

When your chart features a Yuk-Hap, you are bound by a secret gravity. Let us examine the six absolute secret treaties of the universe.

1. Zi & Chou (자축합): The Secret Alliance in the Freezing Dark

The Matrix: The Rat (Zi) + The Ox (Chou) = Earth/Water
The Physics: The freezing, dark midnight water of the Rat hides inside the frozen mud of the Ox. Because both elements exist in the dead of winter (December and January), they rely on each other for pure survival in an unforgiving climate.
Macroeconomic Translation: This represents a highly confidential, under-the-table financial deal. It is the hoarding of hidden, untraceable capital (Zi) inside a deeply secure, highly conservative Swiss bank vault (Chou). People with this combination possess absolute loyalty born out of extreme hardship. They do not flaunt their wealth; they bury it deep where no one can find it.

2. Yin & Hai (인해합): The Deep Ocean Feeding the Pine Tree

The Matrix: The Tiger (Yin) + The Pig (Hai) = Wood
The Physics: The infinite, deep winter ocean of the Pig quietly and endlessly feeds the massive roots of the aggressive, disruptive Tiger (The Giant Pine Tree).
Macroeconomic Translation: This is the ultimate “Angel Investor” or “Mentorship” dynamic. The Pig provides infinite, fluid capital and deep philosophical wisdom to the Tiger, who uses that hidden fuel to aggressively pioneer a new market. It is a highly productive, symbiotic relationship where hidden intelligence (Hai) completely funds disruptive, vertical innovation (Yin).

3. Mao & Xu (묘술합): The Hunter and the Guard Dog

The Matrix: The Rabbit (Mao) + The Dog (Xu) = Fire
The Physics: The rapidly expanding, horizontal network of the Rabbit (Mao) meets the fiercely loyal, dry fortress of the Dog (Xu). In ancient texts, this was called the combination of the hunter and the hound. They work perfectly together to spark a massive fire.
Macroeconomic Translation: This is the merging of a vast, viral marketing network (Mao) with a highly secure, loyal, defensive institution (Xu). The result of this merger is a sudden, explosive burst of highly visible hype and branding (Fire). However, because Fire inherently consumes Wood, the Rabbit often burns itself out physically and emotionally trying to satisfy the intense demands of the Dog.

4. Chen & You (진유합): The Dragon’s Swamp Hiding the Surgical Blade

The Matrix: The Dragon (Chen) + The Rooster (You) = Metal
The Physics: The damp, massive, all-encompassing swamp of the Dragon acts as a perfect, protective incubator for the sharp, delicate, and flawless surgical blade of the Rooster.
Macroeconomic Translation: The Dragon represents massive data consolidation and chaotic potential; the Rooster represents micro-optimization, absolute precision, and diamond-tier assets. When they merge, massive, chaotic data (Chen) is perfectly refined into high-value, flawless assets (Metal). This is the algorithm of elite financial auditing, precision aerospace manufacturing, or a massive tech platform secretly developing a razor-sharp, flawless algorithm.

5. Si & Shen (사신합): The Volatile Alliance of Fire and Metal

The Matrix: The Snake (Si) + The Monkey (Shen) = Water
The Physics: This is the most dangerous, volatile, and highly dramatic combination in the entire matrix. The Snake is an intense industrial forge (Fire); the Monkey is a massive iron block (Metal). They combine out of sheer magnetic attraction, but because Fire inherently wants to melt Metal, the relationship constantly teeters on the absolute edge of a violent clash (The Si-Shen Clash).
Macroeconomic Translation: This is a corporate merger between two massive, aggressive competitors who secretly hate each other. They form a cartel to dominate the market and generate massive, fluid wealth (Water), but the alliance is highly unstable. It requires absolute, cold calculation to prevent them from destroying each other. It is a marriage of convenience masking a war.

6. Wu & Wei (오미합): The Blazing Sun and the Dry Desert

The Matrix: The Horse (Wu) + The Goat (Wei) = Fire/Earth
The Physics: The euphoric, blazing zenith of the Summer Sun (Wu) merges with the scorching, bone-dry desert of the Goat (Wei). There is no moisture here. There is no relief. It is pure, absolute, blinding heat.
Macroeconomic Translation: This represents a massive, highly visible, and hyper-aggressive monopoly. It is a corporate alliance that completely dominates the public sphere with blinding marketing, aggressive PR, and sheer charisma (Fire). However, because there is absolutely no liquidity (Water) in this combination, the corporation is highly prone to burning out its employees, causing severe exhaustion, or experiencing a sudden, catastrophic liquidity crisis.

PART 2: The Three Harmonies (Sam-Hap, 三合) – The Corporate Cartels

If the Six Combinations are private, 1-on-1 deals, the Sam-Hap (Three Harmonies) is a massive, multinational conglomerate. This is arguably the most powerful and productive chemical reaction in all of macroeconomic Eventology.

The Sam-Hap requires three distinct branches from completely different seasons to unite under one absolute goal. This is the algorithm of absolute market scalability and global monopoly. It operates on the flawless formula of [The Birth + The Peak + The Vault]:

The Birth (생지): The aggressive startup, the raw energy, the pioneer.
The Peak (왕지): The king, the absolute specialist, the core identity.
The Vault (묘지): The massive bank, the data center, the financial backer.

These alliances are not based on love, and they are not based on blood. They are based entirely on a Shared Professional Goal. Let us examine the four massive cartels that run the matrix.

1. The Fire Cartel (인오술, Yin + Wu + Xu)

The Goal: Explosive Visibility, IT, Entertainment, and Massive Branding.
The Mechanics: The Tiger (Yin) provides the raw, aggressive, combustible fuel. The Horse (Wu) executes the absolute, blinding heat and takes the center stage. The Dog (Xu) acts as the industrial oven to contain, manage, and monetize the massive energy.
Macroeconomic Translation: This is a trillion-dollar social media empire, a massive entertainment conglomerate, or a global broadcasting network. It takes raw creative talent (Yin), blasts it across the globe for maximum visibility (Wu), and uses a highly secure platform and legal structure to hoard the massive profits (Xu). It operates with explosive speed and absolute, undeniable transparency.

2. The Wood Cartel (해묘미, Hai + Mao + Wei)

The Goal: Viral Networking, Education, Biology, and Infinite Expansion.
The Mechanics: The Pig (Hai) provides the deep, nurturing ocean of data and capital. The Rabbit (Mao) acts as the viral, horizontal network that spreads the information like vines. The Goat (Wei) acts as the dry vault that finally stops the runaway growth, harvests the timber, and builds the structure.
Macroeconomic Translation: This is the algorithm of a massive educational institution, a pharmaceutical giant, or a global logistics network. It does not rely on explosive, loud marketing (Fire); it relies on creeping, unstoppable, viral expansion. It slowly infiltrates every corner of the market, branching out infinitely until it becomes an indispensable part of human infrastructure.

3. The Water Cartel (신자진, Shen + Zi + Chen)

The Goal: Global Liquidity, Deep Intelligence, and Fluid Capital.
The Mechanics: The Monkey (Shen) provides the hard, cold calculation and the source springs of water. The Rat (Zi) provides the pure, freezing, midnight liquidity and stealth. The Dragon (Chen) acts as the massive central bank, the ocean, or the data center that stores the infinite fluid.
Macroeconomic Translation: This is the ultimate algorithm of global finance, shadow banking, hedge funds, and big data. It is cold, highly intelligent, and operates largely in the dark. It moves billions of dollars across the globe silently, utilizing absolute calculation (Shen) to navigate the market and storing it in impenetrable offshore vaults (Chen). It is the invisible blood that runs the global economy.

4. The Metal Cartel (사유축, Si + You + Chou)

The Goal: Absolute Precision, Heavy Industry, and Ruthless Execution.
The Mechanics: The Snake (Si) provides the highly calculated, intense industrial forge to melt the raw ore. The Rooster (You) acts as the flawless, pure diamond or the surgical blade that cuts with absolute precision. The Ox (Chou) acts as the frozen vault that stores, protects, and preserves the finished assets.
Macroeconomic Translation: This represents elite precision manufacturing (microchips, aerospace engineering), top-tier judicial firms, and elite auditing agencies. There is absolutely zero emotion in this cartel. It is about cutting away all human inefficiencies and errors (Si) to create a mathematically flawless, razor-sharp product or legal ruling (You), and preserving it forever in a cold, unyielding vault (Chou).

PART 3: The Directional Alliance (Bang-Hap, 方合) – The Bloodline Families

The final tier of the Matrix is the Bang-Hap (The Directional or Seasonal Alliance).

While the Sam-Hap (Corporate Cartel) unites people from different backgrounds based on a shared goal, the Bang-Hap unites people based entirely on Shared Season, Territory, and Bloodline.

The psychology of the Bang-Hap is extreme tribalism, nepotism, and nationalism. In a Directional Alliance, you do not join the group because you are highly useful, or because you have a brilliant business plan. You are in the group simply because you are family, you are from the same hometown, or you share the exact same blood. It is the algorithm of the Italian Mafia, a royal dynasty, or an entrenched chaebol.

1. The Spring Family (인묘진, Yin + Mao + Chen)

The Territory: Pure Wood (The Eastern Sector).
The Dynamics: The aggressive Tiger, the viral Rabbit, and the consolidating Dragon unite. Because they all share the fundamental DNA of Spring, this family is obsessed with constant growth, disruption, and pioneering new territories. They are a family of chaotic, highly energetic innovators who aggressively protect their own turf from any outside interference. They do not care about precision; they only care about expansion and claiming new land for the family.

2. The Summer Family (사오미, Si + Wu + Wei)

The Territory: Pure Fire (The Southern Sector).
The Dynamics: The calculated Snake, the explosive Horse, and the dry Goat unite. This is a family characterized by extreme pride, absolute visibility, and fierce, hot-blooded loyalty. They are the socialites, the politicians, and the public figures who dominate the spotlight. However, because they are entirely composed of Fire, they are highly prone to internal drama, explosive arguments, and burning out if they do not find external liquidity (Water) to cool themselves down.

3. The Autumn Family (신유술, Shen + You + Xu)

The Territory: Pure Metal (The Western Sector).
The Dynamics: The heavy Monkey, the precise Rooster, and the defensive Dog unite. This is the most ruthless, cold, and highly structured family in the entire matrix. They operate on absolute logic, strict hierarchies, and brutal pragmatism. They are the military generals, the elite judges, and the corporate executioners. If you cross one member of this family, the entire syndicate will systematically, legally, and mathematically destroy you without shedding a single tear.

4. The Winter Family (해자축, Hai + Zi + Chou)

The Territory: Pure Water (The Northern Sector).
The Dynamics: The infinite Pig, the freezing Rat, and the frozen Ox unite. This is a deeply philosophical, highly secretive, and incredibly enduring family. Because they all share the DNA of the freezing winter, they are absolute masters of survival. They operate in the shadows, hoarding massive amounts of hidden wealth and intelligence. They are silent, impenetrable, and almost impossible for outsiders to understand or infiltrate.

Conclusion: The Architecture of Gravity

You now possess the complete, unedited blueprints to the architecture of gravity.

When you look at your own timeline, or when you analyze a global corporation, you must identify which of these 14 algorithms is running the system. Are they operating a secret, intimate backroom deal (Yuk-Hap)? Are they building a highly scalable, emotionless corporate machine to dominate the market (Sam-Hap)? Or are they fortifying the impenetrable walls of their family territory to keep outsiders away (Bang-Hap)?

To master Eventology is to realize that true power is never built alone. It is built by understanding exactly how the Ground connects, who you must bind yourself to, and which cartel you are destined to lead.
